You can find Jeff, the talented fellow behind the Cardigan Threads Collective on Instagram, or come meet him at The Makers & Shakers Market on Saturday 27 May at Albert Hall.
Cardigan Threads Collective is the design label of Sydney-based creative Jeff McCann. Describing himself as a textiles artist who works with cardboard, Jeff takes unwanted cardboard from local shops and transforms it into new work that ranges from fashion, accessories and costumes, functional products, art and sculpture. With inspiration coming from fashion, surface design, street art and textiles/tapestries, Jeff never wants to disguise his material choice, but rather celebrate the process of making. “I want my work to be approachable. I hate it when I’m looking at something and I can’t work out how it’s made. There’s an instantly disconnect. I always want my audience to be able to look at my work and see how it’s made. I try to embody an element of play and maybe even inspire more people to experiment with cardboard.” Jeff’s has styled Australian musicians including Montaigne, Asta and Alphamama for festivals and live performances.
