You can find Sarah, the talented lady behind foolhouse on Instagram, or come meet her at the Makers & Shakers on Saturday 1 April at the Marrickville Town Hall.

Foolhouse is a whimsical label created by graphic and interior designer, Sarah Lamond. Maker and merchant, her emporium (used for humorously formal effect) produces unique keepsakes and instant heirlooms that aid in the hiding of secrets and the hoarding of treasures.

Sarah loves repurposing vintage collectibles and giving them a twist, or twisting the simple things to make the ordinary, a little less ordinary. Now Sarah designs and hand crafts all the Foolhouse products in her backyard studio in Sydney.

Foolhouse’s Secret Vintage Booksafes have certainly struck a chord with the nostalgia lovers amongst us. Sarah has been trawling so many hidden nooks to find the best looking old books to turn into coveted hiding spots for people’s biggest and smallest secrets.

Foolhouse has Timber Treasure Boxes made the old-fashioned way with a pad-lockable sliding lid and six removeable compartments to fill with goodies. The whimsical engravings on the lid change year round from bicycle-riding rabbits and butter-flying foxes to Spruiking Steampunk dogs and cats just to name a few. These are commonly used for jewellery  or cufflinks and children’s precious collectibles, there are handy bits and bobbins boxes for all your sewing paraphernalia.
