Mona-Lisa Klavus is a potter who loves designing and making things with love. She has always worked with her hands and has a creative mind. She started initially by getting into pottery by making pieces to use in her kitchen on a daily basis. Very soon her friends wanted to know where she got her pots and that is how her business got started.
Mona-Lisa makes all work by hand forming slabs of clay or on a potter’s wheel. She uses earthenware and stoneware clay, always in white. She considers the shape, decorations and what the piece is going to be used for. She use very shiny glazes in strong colours for some of my work and for the pieces that will get some more wear in the kitchen.
A lot of Mona-Lisa’s work has a Scandinavian touch along with her love for strong colours, which she developed over the many years living and traveling in Asia.
Find Mona-Lisa Pottery on Instagram and meet Mona-Lisa at our market on Saturday 2 April at the Marrickville Town Hall.
